Park Facts:

The Monument Cabin was built in 1804 along what is now Park Avenue on Hamilton’s west side. Ownership of the building changed hands 57 times before it was donated for community use in 1964, after local history enthusiasts discovered the cabin hidden beneath a larger building. Thanks to the collaboration of public and private agencies and organizations, and with private funds donated for the purpose, the cabin was moved and reconstructed at its present location, next to the Soldiers, Sailors, and Pioneers Monument, on the site of old Fort Hamilton.  The Monument Cabin was rededicated in 2004, upon its 200th birthday, to serve as a reminder of Hamilton’s and Butler County’s pioneer roots.  The cabin houses a display to illustrate what life might have been like for the earliest settlers of the area.
