MetroParks of Butler County has a wide variety of opportunities for those who would like to volunteer in the parks.  Some of the volunteer opportunities available include:

  • Bluebird box monitoring

  • Landscape maintenance—planting flowers, mulching, weeding, etc.

  • Adopt-a-Flowerbed—individuals, families, or organizations can help to plant annuals and perennials as well as mulch, weed, and water your adopted bed.  Most flowerbeds are located around park entrance signs

  • Litter pick-up

  • Trail maintenance & marking

  • Adopt-a-Trail—your family or organization can adopt a trail of approximately one mile in length.  Responsibilities include mulching the trail once a year, regularly cutting back overhanging limbs, performing regular litter sweeps, and notifying staff of any major trail obstructions

  • Honeysuckle removal

  • Bridge building

  • Bench building

  • Painting inside and out of facility buildings

  • Cabin chinking

  • Indian Creek Pioneer Church & Burial Ground Annual Clean-up and maintenance throughout the season

  • Pioneer Village—maintain cabins, lead tours, demonstrate pioneer skills & household chores, etc.

  • Eagle Scout projects—MetroParks is always anxious to work with Boy Scouts by providing project suggestions within the parks

  • Volunteer organizations associated with the park district including the Governor Bebb Preserve Pioneer Group, Friends of Chrisholm, Butler County Antique Machinery Club, and the Indian Creek Pioneer Church Restoration Committee welcome volunteers and new members

  • Monetary Donations—tax deductible donations can be made to MetroParks of Butler County.  If you would like, your donation can be earmarked for any project that MetroParks is currently undertaking

Citizens who wish to use their time and talents to assist with the many duties required to operate MetroParks may call the park office or e-mail us at metroparks@butlercountyohio.org to volunteer.  Supervision and training are provided as needed.  The opportunities are endless.  For MetroParks complete Volunteer Policy click here.
